An educator specializing in community-engaged undergraduate teaching, outreach, and scholarship globally and locally. Her focus revolves around engaging young people, teachers, and community members in land-based learning in restoration education. She leads Earth Partnership Global Initiatives in México, Nicaragua, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, and Puerto Rico. Previously, Dr. Moreno held a position as Associate for Experiential Education with the undergraduate Global Health program in CALS, where she designed courses with a focus on environmental health, ethics, and resilience.  Additionally, Dr. Moreno serves on the Lakes and Watershed Commission, further demonstrating her commitment to community services and environmental stewardship. Maria holds degrees from UW-Madison, Boston University and American University. Her service in the Peace Corps in Mauritania and Mali, West Africa, has provided her with valuable insights that inform her work.
