Sean Higgins is a practicing urban planner with the Capital Area Regional Planning Commission (CARPC) where he provides planning assistance to local municipalities and their planning and development partners. He and his colleagues work to implement the region’s long-range development framework by integrating climate resilience, better urban design, green infrastructure practices, and resource conservation into local plans and processes.

Sean holds a Master of Architecture and a Master of Urban Planning, both from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s School of Architecture and Urban Planning. He is driven by understanding how humankind shapes and is shaped by its environment at every scale, from the object to the landscape and everything in between. His studies covered topics including art history, cultural landscapes, landscape architecture, and rhetoric. He is terminally curious and loves to learn experientially. Much to the chagrin of Sean’s spouse, he is also a collector of hobbies ranging from bonsai cultivation to millinery.
