Kayley McCarthy

Kayley is a first-year student in the M.S. Urban & Regional Planning Program. She earned her BS in Sociology from UW-La Crosse in May 2021. From there she gained experience in the non-profit organizations ATTIC Correctional Services and Couleecap. She became interested in the social implications of city planning through her experiences with restorative justice in community corrections and housing insecurity.

Kayley was an intern for the City of Fitchburg’s Planning & Zoning Department this past summer working with community development and hopes to continue in her interest of community development and equity. She is excited to be a project assistant for UW-Madison’s PEOPLE Program and support the initiative of opportunity for higher education for high school students. In her free time Kayley enjoys trying new sushi restaurants, being active, and spending time with her partner and two cats.
