Katherine (Kate) is a first-year graduate student in the Urban & Regional Planning program. Kate graduated from UW Whitewater in 2015 with a bachelor’s of science in Political Science with Legal Emphasis. Kate then went on to work as a paralegal at the Wisconsin Department of Justice, where she handled cases in federal, state, and administrative courts. Kate wants to enter the field of planning because she loves humanity and wants to make communities better! Her planning interests include economic and community development, land use, housing, and rural planning. She also hopes to become proficient in GIS while in graduate school. Throughout her future career, Kate hopes to amass many new skills and expertise. Kate continues to work at the Wisconsin DOJ as a LTE paralegal.

In her free time, she enjoys gardening, reading, and playing any kind of game. She has lived in Madison with her husband, Joshua, since 2013. She grew up in Port Huron, Michigan, and lived in Michigan’s UP for several years, where she met Joshua.
