Neil Janes

Neil is a second year dual-degree master’s student in International Public Affairs and Urban and Regional Planning with interests in sustainable development and climate policy and planning. He is also pursuing a certificate in Business, Environmental and Social Responsibility. Neil received a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies with a focus on European Affairs from the UW in 2019, where he lived and worked abroad in Freiburg, Germany.

Neil has worked in a variety of different roles and sectors: from advising to hospitality, teaching and research. He currently interns with the Greater Madison MPO, a regional transportation planning organization and has been a metropolitan policy research associate with the Mayors Innovation Project. Much of Neil’s work focuses on creating sustainable cities and implementing international, data-driven best practices at the city-scale.

In his free time, Neil enjoys cooking, baking, and, when not in a global pandemic, traveling.
