Sara Husen

Sara Husen (Saw-rah | Hoo-Sayn) is a second-year graduate student currently pursuing an MS in Urban and Regional Planning. She received her BA in Political Science from Iowa State University and minored in Urban Studies. She currently has a focus in Natural Hazard Mitigation Planning and GIS.
Sara currently works as a Project Assistant for Dane County Emergency Management, updating risk assessment data for the Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan (DCNHMP) since May of 2021, and as a GIS Intern for the Capital Area Regional Planning Commission (CARPC) since July of 2022. Recently, she has worked as a GIS intern for the City of Edgerton and conducted city-wide frontage/zoning analyses. Sara has also received her Post-Baccalaureate Paralegal Certificate and is currently a member of the National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA).
Sara hopes to further develop her skills in GIS, Python, emergency management, and risk analysis. In her downtime, she enjoys historical fashion, longboarding, antiquing, and baking with her husband.
