James Hughes

James is a second-year student in the MS URPL program, with aspirations to work in transportation planning. After working as a bus driver, dispatcher, and transit supervisor during undergrad at the University of Iowa, he found a passion for public transit and the critical service it provides to urban communities. He is looking forward to learning more about the intersections of transportation, equity, income, and opportunity—to be able to apply and advocate for those ideas in a forthcoming planning career.
