May 2024 Graduation Requirements

Please follow these steps by the appropriate deadlines!

  1. Submit your intent to graduate form by Feb 15
  2. Work with your advisor to nominate a second committee member and send this nomination to Amy & Carey by Feb 15
  3. Schedule professional project presentation Mar 1–Apr 15
  4. Submit your final project to your committee ONE WEEK before your defense
  5. Complete any second chance presentations by May 6
  6. Complete all Master’s degree requirements by May 10

Requirements:

  • Submit Internship Memo: Go to Internship Survey to submit your Internship Survey and 2-3 page memo.
  • Supervisor Survey: make sure your internship supervisor has submitted their Survey. Find the link here.
  • Plan of Study Form: send your signed plan of study to the Department Graduate Coordinator.
  • Professional Project Sharing Permission Form: send your form to the Department Graduate Coordinator.
  • MS URPL Student Evaluation: The MS URPL evaluation required for graduation. Students will receive an anonymous link.

Summer 2024 Graduation Requirements

Please follow these steps by the appropriate deadlines!

1.              Submit your intent to graduate form by July 1
2.              Compile your committee by May 1
3.              Schedule professional project presentation Aug 1 – Aug 10
4.              Schedule second chance presentations by Aug 15
5.              Complete all Master’s degree requirements by Aug 23

Requirements:

MS Landscape Architecture


  1. Warrant Request
    All students intending to graduate must email the me to request their warrant by February 15 for the spring semester, October 1 for the fall semester, and July 1 for the summer semester. Note: if graduating in the summer, students must enroll in a minimum of 2 credits; domestic students have the option to pay a fee at https://grad.wisc.edu/acadpolicy/?policy=degreecompletionfee instead of enrolling. The final deadline that Amy can submit your warrant request to graduate is May 2024 is April 19th.
  2. Master’s Degree Competency Requirement
  3. Thesis (as per outlined in MSLA Handbook section 3.4).
  4. Defense:  each student must schedule a thesis defense during the semester in which they intend to graduate.
  5. Prepare and submit one bound copy of the thesis to the Department of Landscape Architecture. In addition, you must deposit an unbound copy of your thesis in the Memorial Library. More info can be found in the MSLA Handbook section 3.4.

Graduate School Requirements

All graduate students should use the apply for graduation action in Student Center to note your preferences for commencement. However, the “intended degree completion term” in the student center is not used by the Graduate School. Information about the commencement ceremony can be found on the Chancellor’s commencement website (https://commencement.wisc.edu/). Application to participate in May commencement due March 29th!

Summer 2024 Graduation Requirements

1. Complete all Master’s degree requirements by Aug 23

PhD Urban & Regional Planning


Information on Graduating with your PhD is found here, but in summary, here are the steps:

  1.  Request your final warrant with your Graduate Coordinator by April 19th
  2. Go to Grad Portal to pay the required dissertation deposit fee.
  1. Complete the Doctoral exit surveys
  2. Schedule and defend your dissertation
  3. Electronic deposit of your dissertation
  4. Commencement
