This is technical work in the operation of heavy equipment used in general parks maintenance and operation. This position will involve actively managing and improving natural areas in the park system. Work is performed according to adopted land management standards, such as Parks’ Land Management Plan, site-specific Habitat Management Plans, and Integrated Pest Management, and established routines/schedules, such as quantifiable work plans and prescribed burn plans. Major responsibilities are for proper land management through the skilled and safe operation of the specialized and non-specialized assigned equipment. The successful candidate will be expected to perform work independently under the general direction of Ecology Leadworker or Central Parks Supervisor.
This position is not part of an automatic progression series. Rather, movement to an Equipment Operator 3 is based on a competitive process and the needs of individual departments.
