The Planner I/Planner II position will perform a wide variety of duties to assist the Community Development Director in the following general capacities:
- Provides information and assistance to citizens, developers, and contractors regarding development codes, entitlement processes, procedures, permit requirements and information.
- Providing staff support to various boards and commissions.
- Coordinating and participating in the review of land-use applications; and
- Assisting with the research and development of short and long-term strategies and policies to help ensure that Mead grows in a smart, sustainable fashion.
Planner I – Entry-level step in the professional planning hierarchy. Individuals employed at this level typically have a bachelor’s degree and between one (1) and three (3) years of professional experience. The position involves professional-level duties and judgment with routine administrative tasks, although para-professional duties will be required from time-to-time. Individuals hired at the Planner I level can expect to be assigned less-complex tasks with more guidance.
Planner II – Intermediate-level step in the professional planning hierarchy. Individuals employed at this level often have a master’s degree and between three (3) and seven (7) years of professional experience. The position involves professional-level duties and judgment, with fewer routine administrative tasks, but para-professional duties will be required from time-to-time. Individuals hired at the Planner II level can expect to be assigned more-complex tasks with less guidance.
