Multimodal Transportation Planner

This position functions under the Planning Section in the Southeast Region.  This position performs transportation planning activities related to transportation demand management, environmental review, multimodal systems, socioeconomic impacts, land use, and transportation impact issues for the region.

This position is responsible for interpreting and implementing federal/state legislation, policies, guidelines and administrative rules regarding bicycle/pedestrian accommodations as they apply to state and local highway improvement projects and programs. In addition, this position serves as a Region’s technical expert to the Region’s planning and project development sections, the Southeast Regional Planning Commission, consultants, and local communities on bicycle and pedestrian facility design and accommodation issues.  In this role, the incumbant is also the region’s primary liaison with the Federal Highway Administration and other state and federal agencies on bicycle and pedestrian matters.  Work products include professional analyses and recommendations, detailed project plan review, comments and recommendations, community involvement materials, and developing complex study designs, reports, research, and evaluations, which provide significant input to the development of region, division, and department multi-modal transportation policies.
