The Village of Mukwonago (population 8,057) is seeking a self-directed and collaborative Community Planner with excellent communication and time-management skills to promote balanced growth in the Village through planning strategies designed to maintain and enhance the Village’s quality of life.
Assisting with the orderly and proper land use and development of the residential, commercial, and manufacturing tax base, the Community Planner will coordinate the efforts of the Village Planning Commission, Board of Zoning Appeals, and Inspections function, while also serving as a liaison to the Village’s Downtown Development Committee (https://mukwonagodowntown.com/). The position also assists the Village in developing and implementing proactive planning, zoning, land use, and economic development strategies, requiring advanced professional planning experience of high complexity and variety.
This position is significantly involved with larger, more complex development planning and land use initiatives, including Village-led developments and facilitating private development through the application and approval process. The Community Planner may supervise small teams and assist various committees focused on specific development or planning initiatives at the direction of the Village Administrator or Village Board.
This is an exempt position and may require additional attendance at meetings such as; Planning Commission, Village Board, and Downtown Development Committee. Salary range: $62,625 – $84,541 (DOQ), plus an excellent benefits package containing Wisconsin Retirement System contributions, deferred compensation, longevity pay, tuition reimbursement, health insurance, flexible spending accounts, vacation, personal days, and compensatory time.
