Design Studies Teaching Assistant

The Design Studies Department is hiring teaching assistant for Fall 2020 at 33.3% level.

This position has an important role in teaching fundamental concepts and design skills for 2-dimensional design.

33.3% appointment, 13.3 hrs/week or 240 hrs/semester for 33.3% appointment level. Tuition plus TA association salary rate.

Enrollment: 112+ in Fall,

Duties

§ 33.3% position involves teaching two sections of design studio consisting of 4 hrs/week

§ Attend lectures including prep (Mon/Wed 11:00-11:50am, Online in fall 2020)

§ Meet with supervising professor for a regular TA meeting 1~1.5 hrs/week (Mon 12:00-1:00pm)

§ Grade studio section projects according to professor’s grading scale

§ Work with professor to submit final grades on time

§ Hold office hour (1 hr. per week)

Qualifications

§ Graduate student in Design Studies, Art, Landscape Architecture, and other design related areas.

§ Must have coursework experience in visual arts/design, knowledge of the principles of color, elements of design, course management system (Canvas) and Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.

§ A portfolio of work and personal interview may be required in some instances to document previous design work.
