The Division of Facilities Planning and Management is seeking student-hourly, student intern, or work/study employees to fill positions as a Campus Design Assistant in their Department of Campus Planning and Landscape Architecture.
Position Responsibilities: This position will serve as an assistant to the professional planning and landscape architecture staff in the planning and development of university facilities improvement projects across campus. Individuals will be responsible for providing AutoCAD-based computer aided drafting and design services on a variety of environmental planning projects; landscape architectural design and graphic design services; and general planning office design support. Responsibilities include working with digital and hardcopy aerial photos,
maintaining physical planning inventories, providing real estate planning maps; developing site analyses, conceptual design drawings, and construction documents for site and landscape architecture design projects on campus. Some work outdoors utilizing a digital camera and land surveying equipment will be included throughout the year. Projects using an ArcView Geographic Information System (GIS) and assistance in developing web-based planning systems are also possible.
Qualifications: Candidates must be currently enrolled at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the engineering, landscape architecture, or urban and regional planning program or in a related environmental design program. Working knowledge of computeraided design is required, AutoCAD preferred.

Conditions of Employment: Positions may be student hourly, student intern, or work/study-based on a minimum of 10 hours per week during the academic year and up to an average of 30 hours/week during summer and up to 40 hours/week during university breaks (spring & winter). Starting salary will be $12.00 per hour. All positions will continue during the summer.
Work Schedule: 30 hours a week during the hours of 7:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, adjusted to class schedule during the academic year.
We anticipate starting two students in May 2020.
