Extension Lakes at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point is a program of the College of Natural Resources (CNR) dedicated to preserving our Wisconsin legacy of lakes through education, communication, and bringing people together. Through close collaboration with Extension and Outreach programs in the CNR and our partners in the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, we carry out capacity development efforts that target hundreds of lake and watershed organizations in Wisconsin.

Position Summary

The successful candidate for this position will work with the Extension Lakes Director to oversee the day to day coordination and delivery of leadership and capacity development programs for lake organizations across Wisconsin, including the Wisconsin Lake Leaders
Institute, the Wisconsin Lakes and Rivers Convention, and other related programs. This includes taking a lead role in managing the Wisconsin Lake Leader Institute, an awardwinning statewide project that enhances skills and broadens the capabilities of people in our
lake communities. The successful candidate will champion effective collaborations and foster responsive and useful networks that support lake citizens.This position will also take a lead role, as well as collaborate with the Extension Lakes team and external partners, to plan, implement, and evaluate the annual Wisconsin Lakes and Rivers Convention, one of the largest state-level gatherings of surface water scientists, managers, and stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree, in environmental education, communication, community organizing, planning, or leadership development.
• At least two years’ experience coordinating and/or implementing leadership, capacity development, or similar adult education efforts.
• Ability to organize, coordinate, and manage complex multi-organizational projects.
• Ability to travel to overnight conferences and work some nights and weekends.
• Excellent communication and writing skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree, in environmental education, communication, community organizing, planning, or leadership development.
• Experience working with diverse audiences and team members
• Background in natural resource management; lake and watershed management
• Preference will be given to candidates with a strong leadership and/or community organizing background and demonstrated ability in adult education, program development, and event management

Terms of Employment This is a 12-month, Academic Staff annual appointment, exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
