The State Cartographer’s Office, a unit of the UW-Madison Department of Geography, needs your help! We currently have multiple openings for students interested in geospatial and Web technologies.
Put simply, we need people to help us build stuff and figure out solutions to complicated problems. Most of your time will be spent working on geospatial data processing procedures using tools like ArcGIS, Python, ArcPy, QGIS, and more. You will also have the opportunity to learn more about Javascript, MySQL, PHP, and other Web technologies. Successful candidates typically have some level of experience in one or more of these areas, but we don’t expect you to know it all. We expect our students to work 10-15 hours per week. In return, we offer a very flexible schedule that can work around your class schedule.
We give preference to students able to work in our lab in Science Hall on the UW-Madison campus, but we are open to remote work arrangements for highly-skilled candidates. Note that you MUST be a student enrolled at any University of Wisconsin System institution in order to be eligible for these positions. Undergraduate, graduate, and professional/certificate students in any discipline are encouraged to apply!
We will begin reviewing applications on November 26th.
