The rise in temperatures, is bringing back summer nostalgia and with it our student summer internship spotlight. Today, our spotlight is on MS URPL student Andrew Busker.
Andrew spent his summer working for the City of Madison Parks Division as a Financial Management Intern. His role with the city focused on financial planning, municipal accounting, and park planning. From April through July, Andrew prepared the Park Division’s ~$11 million Capital and ~$14 million Operating budget proposals for the City’s 2020 budgets. He also worked with the Parks staff on the potential change in policies, regarding dogs in Madison’s public parks, as well as other park projects across the city.
In talking about his experience Andrew said he, “…had the great fortune to work with some wonderful people, to learn more about city functions, and to enjoy what [he] does everyday.” Andrew is looking forward to seeing the remainder of the 2020 budget process unfold, as well as what other projects will come his way during his time there. Andrew’s internship will finish at the end of November.
