Penn State hosted its sixth annual Rural Studies Student Conference this past Thursday and Friday. URPL’s own, Professor Alfonso Morales, was one of two keynote speakers to give a talk preceding the conference titled, “Insurgent Sociology: Public Social Science Research in the 21st Century.” While in the area Professor Morales met with URPL alum, Guangqing Chi, who earned his PhD in Environmental Demography while attending the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Guangqing Chi currently is an Associate Professor of Rural Sociology and Demography at Penn State. After the conference, the former and current Badger spent time catching up at the local farmer’s market, located on Penn State’s campus.
