Meet PLA’s Newest Student Staffer

Sitting behind the office door, labeled 15A in Ag Hall, is PLA’s newest department addition – Whelan Callahan. The current undergraduate studying computer science, shares a little about his interests, both academically and personally in the Q + A below!

Educational / Professional Background: Undergraduate at UW—Madison studying computer science.

How did you get into your field of research? I really enjoy programming, I’ve been interested ever since playing video games as a child.

What attracted you to UW-Madison? UW—Madison is a great school and it’s very close to home.

Which common phrase or saying best describes you? “I’m very important. I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany.” – Ron Burgundy

What is one thing others around you should know about you? I love watching movies! If you ever need a recommendation or have one, I’m around.

Favorite Artist / TV show / Book / Movie you’ve experienced within this past year? The movie Sorry to Bother You, written and directed by Boots Riley.
