It is our pleasure to announce that our Second-year MS URPL students have completed their final work product for the Fall 2017. Both the presentation and the final report were well-received by local and regional stakeholder groups! This is the product of the project the students had been working the entire semester to help find ways to revitalize Water Street, the main thoroughfare that connects the two communities along the Wisconsin River.
For this project, students focused on making Water Street a destination for residents and for visitors. The project goals focused on building upon and enhancing existing businesses and housing opportunities to attract additional businesses and consumers; establishing the Water Street Corridor as the main activity center and to establish Sauk Prairie as a destination for trail tourism to enhance connectivity between existing parks and to create a robust array of trail amenities; improving safety for all modes of transportation and to create space for amenities to attract people to the corridor; and finally, create connectivity between the community and the riverfront.
This achievement showcases our department’s ongoing contribution to the Wisconsin Idea! In the near future, everyone will likely encounter the implementation of our students’ astute recommendations for the Water Street Corridor! Congratulations and well done to the second-year MS URPL students!
